55,000+ Twitter Usernames and Passwords leaked. Check if you’re affected.

May 9, 2012 in News, Useful

Here we go again. I just received this info.

Today anonymous hackers leaked more than 55.000 hacked twitter accounts username and password through Pastebin. It was very shocking to see such a massive number of Twitter accounts are hacked. Also celebrity accounts are hacked.

‘The micro blogging platform is aware of this hack and was taking necessary actions to save those people’s account from malicious activity’, said a Twitter insider.

It was huge, 55.000+ accounts has been hacked and it wasn’t possible to share such a huge pile of usernames and passwords in a single paste. So it took the hackers five Pastebin pages to leak the data. This hack is just an alert to other millions of Twitter users that they could be hacked anytime.

Unbelievable that Twitter isn’t taking any necessary steps to keep its users data safe. Even after encountering a huge number of hacks in the past including celebrities account. All they need to do is to add a password strength checker during signup while changing passwords. And guide the users to create a strong password. That could save a lot of users frustration.

Here are the leaked accounts with open details. You should check if yours is affected, you never can tell. Use Ctrl+F to find your twitter handle.

April 16, 2012 in Tutorials

Well, one of the successfull setups I have on my MAC is being able to gain access to the hosts file and just in case yo have no idea how to do it, here it is:

Open up terminal via: Applications > Utilities > Termainal

Use this command:

sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/hosts

As you may have guessed, the above command uses the route etc/hosts which is the location of the hosts file and then uses TextEdit (a text editor) to open it

Hope this helps ;-)

Most ‘non’ techies would not really know much about the “Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)“. Here’s a good resource for you to start from: http://www.forbes.com/sites/larrymagid/2012/01/18/what-are-sopa-and-pipa-and-why-all-the-fuss/.

SOPA and PIPA constitutes bad news! I’m glad that it has been suspended indefinitely and all I can say (gladly) is RUN SOPA and PIPA RUN!!!

The guys at Nokia have decided that words like “Symbian” with regards to Anna and/or Belle should be dropped. Following the Nokia Conversations website, the said Symbian Nokia Belle update would be availabe by February 2012.

Here’s a quote from them:

For those already owning a Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7, and Nokia Oro, the wait for Nokia Belle is almost over. We’ve started learning Qt for app development – Join Us

December 19, 2011 in Useful

Apparently someone out there would be expecting to see the meaning of “Qt” as per abbreviation. Well, sorry to disappoint you, it is not an abbreviation. It is spelt “Qt” and pronounced “Cute”. Qt happens to be the “chef” to most of the applications, widgets, games and the likes that we use on our mobile phones. Just in case you don’t know, Apps are generally made by human beings; Sometimes by the authors (from the big companies like Nokia) and MOST times from individuals like you and I.

Let’s face it, Nowadays, Web development cannot be complete without an app version of your site. In order to make a successful product, you’d have to “cook an all round meal”. So, with this on our mind, we have decided to lay our hands on Qt for Symbian and Maemo app development. Just like before, we are not leaving you behind. We’d share our sweet and bitter moments with you as we progress into the world of “cute” – sorry I meant Qt.

For the benefit of those who want to try it out, here are some resources you should NOT miss:

You have to get familiar with the Qt site and get to know what you’re up against. Once you’ve “hit your hand on your chest and” made up your mind to continue, then download the Software Development Kit (SDK) which is roughly 1.6GB. Tutorials should be your next stop. :) I must have to stress that each phase of Qt normally has it’s rough edge(s). During our time, we faced alot of difficulties during the SDK installation. We flew from one problem to other. At a point, we felt like quitting. Our friends on twitter like @ltomuta can testify to this.

Just like we have on our title, we are still on the “Learning” phase so don’t expect much from us (but that doesn’t mean we are dumb, we could answer some “primary” questions)! Just in case you happen to have some nice resources that you think might be helpful to us on our Qt App Development race, don’t forget to let us know – we will be most grateful.

That’s it, Goodluck with Qt!
Fin!!!

Awaiting your comment(s).
